Passage: Philemon

The lyrics are sung naturally, in unison, and without much thought: "Chains shall he break, for the slave is our brother, and in His name, all oppression shall cease." Those lyrics have a powerful history in perhaps our nation's darkest time. Besides this, they reflect truths found in the Bible that prove revolutionary in all times, specifically the message of God's grace-filled fellowship that transcends class. Join us this Sunday to consider how both this song and Philemon should shape our church to be a place that truly "embraces difference."
